2015 mk7 Golf Hatchback 1.6 TDI. Spent a while under the engine bay and struggle to find the oil filter, totally baffled. It doesn't seem to appear to be in the same place as the mk6 golf 1.6 tdi. really would appreciate a steer in the right direction. Times like this, you could kill for a haynes manual.
The highest oil leakers are, the Valve cover and oil pan gaskets. The problem that you are seeing is probably cause the valve cover nuts were too tight, and this allows the Valve cover gasket to move in towards the head on the back side. This allows a GAP between the cover and head, that pools oil. The Oil will come out more often at higher

Mk7 R Oil cap seal. Could someone with a Mk7 Gti/R do me a favour and check if there is a seal in the oil filler kneck. It should be a flat washer type seal, not a traditional round o-ring which sits in the kneck. I'm convinced mine is missing, after checking ETKA it shows that there should be one in there and I seem to have a slow oil leak

Get the car jacked up and get scrubbing. Start with some more friendly cleaners like a foam gun, agitate it a bit, and rinse off. Keep going to attack it in small layers until its clean. Once you are working with a fresh and clean engine block again, seeing where the oil leak starts and trails to will be a lot easier.
1. Has anyone using a Pela (or other extractor) extracted all the oil it could get, then pull the plug to see if any oil was leftover? In my TDI the Pela did a good job, but didn't get everything I found. 2. Where did you get the filter from? The dealer? Amazon? HU-6002-Z? Planning switching from the factory Castrol to probably Liqui-Moly.
